The opening sequence of the stylized film about the richest man in history, a young Paolo Getty III tells us, in narration to the audience, that we humans look the same, but we are not the same. That the really really really rich, the ultra-wealthy, bend the light.
I disagree. We ARE the same…
In the morning, we look at our sad to happy selves in the mirror.
We strain to reach our feet when putting on our socks.
We get the chills all the same when sitting on the can.
Our toes stub on steps, railings, the legs on a table; and we wince.
Our pupils all dilate in the dark.
Our stomachs get pulled the same in hairpin turns.
The same buzz of dopamine courses through us when we get the answer to something right.
Our hearts all flutter when the one we feel something unique for makes eye contact.
And as evidenced by the movie, we all have the same capacity to be greedy imbeciles.
